Meta Tags are useful for Ranking higher in various Search engines and getting more traffic to our websites/blogs. Meta Tags actually informs Search engines regarding our site.
In the past Blogger/Blogspot was not providing a option to add Meta Tags in settings manually due to which developers made a code for adding meta tags to blogger blogs. the code was something like this:
<meta content='INCLUDE DESCRIPTION HERE' name='description'/>
<meta content='INCLUDE KEYWORDS HERE' name='keywords'/>
<meta content='INCLUDE AUTHOR NAME HERE' name='author'/>
In old days almost every SEO optimized blog was having this code because using this code it was possible to add Meta Tags in blogspot.
but good news is that there is no more need of this code as Blogger now provides option of adding Meta Tags to blogs in New Blogger Interface.
Go to Settings > Search Preferences:
There you can add Meta Tags to your blog.
After Writing Meta Tags Save changes and you have successfully done the process.
If you still want to add meta tags with help of above mentioned code then you can do it. In such case keep the Enable Search description option to No.
